Prep Transition
Pascoe Vale North Primary School understands the importance of a positive and scaffolded transition from kinder to primary school. We understand that children need to be provided the support to slowly transition from one setting to another, and opportunity to explore their new setting in order to thrive.
The transition sessions to Pascoe Vale North include;
Three transition sessions in Term 3 for students who have already enrolled at the school. These sessions explore social skills and allow students to engage in our Discovery Play investigation space.
Four transition sessions in Term 4 that take place in the prep classrooms.
The kinder to school transition is the beginning of a child's school journey. Our Prep Transition sessions aim to give our future students the basic foundations that allow them to feel happy, secure and safe in their new environment. All of our Prep students will be allocated a Grade 6 buddy to support them in their new school adventure.
Term 4 Prep Transition looks like:
Four sessions lead by a Prep teacher
Parent information sessions focusing on wellbeing, literacy, numeracy and school readiness
The fourth session is ‘Meet the Teacher’ where students will meet their teacher for the following year
A Welcome Picnic to build relationships with families and staff
