Excursions, Swimming and Camping Program

Excursions/Incursions

Throughout the year across all year levels students are invited to attend excursions (offsite) or incursions (onsite) that relate to an area of their Discovery program. All excursions that require a bus, is ensured that all buses are equipped with seat belts.

Excursion examples are: Ceres, Animal Land, Museum, Science works, Immigration Museum, MSO to just name a few over the past few years.

Swimming

Students in Years Prep- two undertake a swimming program in Term3-4, which is partly supported via DET with a reduced rate for the cost of swimming. The swimming program is an intensive one that runs for 8-10 days and is usually held at a local pool called Elite swimming.

Camping Program

At PVNPS we believe that camping programs are important for various reasons:

  1. Outdoor skills: They teach essential survival skills like raft building, navigation, fostering self-reliance and resilience.

  2. Nature Connection: They promote a deeper appreciation and understanding of nature, leading to environmental management and conservation.

  3. Physical Activity: Camping encourages physical activity through hiking, adventure pursuits, flying foxes etc.

  4. Social Interaction: Participants bond with peers and mentors, developing teamwork, communication, and leadership skills.

  5. Personal Growth: Camping fosters personal growth by challenging comfort zones, building confidence, and encouraging problem solving.

  6. Disconnecting from Technology: It provides a break from screens and technology, allowing individuals to connect with themselves and others in a more authentic way.

A variety of activities are offered to students in the lead up to the camping experience at PVNPS.
